ArtistWorks offers an amazing curriculum and employs a team of talented teachers. Understandably, they are charging a few dollars higher than others so they can fund their instructors and continue to improve their website and programs. However, the company’s refund policy does not sit well with students.

Who Created ArtistWorks?

Artistwirks

The current CEO of ArtistWorks is Patricia Butler (1), a music-lover who helped mold ArtistWorks into the company that it is today.

ArtistWorks will not be complete without their instructors. There are several instructors for each instrument, but this review will focus more on the piano instructors.

First, they have Christie Peery. She is in charge of teaching Classical piano on the ArtistWorks website (2).

Piano GirlSecond, we have George Whitty. He is in charge of teaching Jazz piano on the ArtistWorks website (3) and has won many awards for his compositions for several movies and TV series (4).

Hugh SungLast but not the least, we have Hugh Sung. He is in charge of the Popular piano lessons on the ArtistWorks website (5). Hugh Sung is a concert pianist who has performed worldwide. He is very passionate about developing technology to help the modern-day musician (6).

What Does the Program Consist Of?

The first thing you will notice when you log into your account is how organized the website is. The simple design is user-friendly and the tabs are easy to navigate.

Popular PianoThe blogs are all updated and the live chat is active with Hugh himself managing most of it. You can often find him there providing guidance and answering student questions.

Teach the world

Before you start, you will be required to submit a placement video. This video is then sent to Hugh so he can review it and recommend your starting place! This is another great thing about ArtistWorks’ piano lessons. While most online piano lessons let you play the guessing game when it comes to your skills, ArtistWorks ensures that you know exactly where to start so you do not waste any time.

Hugh Sung’s program consists of five levels. Each level is organized by skill and composed of several lessons. For each lesson, you can download a PDF of the music score being played so you can learn and practice it during your free time. Here is an overview of the curriculum under Hugh Sung:

Our Rating:

My Final Verdict

I am going to give ArtistWorks a rating of 3/5.

Artistworks are pretty awesome when it comes to the quality of the lessons as well as the credibility and teaching styles of their instructors. I have seen a lot of praise towards them and their way of teaching and motivating students to improve.

The course outline is very inclusive, with lessons that are designed for both beginners and advanced learners.

The website is simple and very easy to navigate. It also has the feature that allows you to submit your videos, get feedback from your instructor, and watch other people’s review videos. The only thing that breaks this course is the way their company handles payment policies.

There are, unfortunately, no refunds for this course despite it being an online subscription. The auto-renew feature has been found to malfunction quite a lot, which leads to most students complaining about the website being “scammy” even though it is not. The customer service of the company tends to be hard to get a hold of.

Perhaps if Artistworks finally decide to update their policies and listen to what the people are saying, more customers will be inclined to take the lessons no matter the cost.
